Pu Luong Nature Reserve is an outstanding area of breathtaking scenery, culture and biology. The region is blessed with fertile valleys, forests and stunning rice terraces. Driven by tipping bucket mills, water flows via complex systems of canals and bamboo pipes.
 

Farmers work in the paddies with water buffalo's pulling ploughs. Women carry large baskets of firewood or produce on their backs supported by headbands.

The region is blessed with rich forest, karst limestone with picturesque panorama, magnificent terraces (steps rice paddies) and breathtaking scenery. On this trip you can explore the daily life and culture of ethnic Thai and Muong minority and spend some nights in traditional home-stay with friendly local people.

Day 1: Ninh Binh – Pu Luong – Kho Muong – Ban Hieu (L – D)

Our E.S guide will meet you at your hotel at 8h00am and start to depart on a scenic way to Pu Luong Natural Reserve. On the way you can see tapioca, sugar cane fields and rice paddies. After 4 hour-drive, we arrive in Kho Muong village where we enjoy lunch with local people. And then we continue our trip and drive further into the reserve for the beginning of the trek (approximately 3 hours). Our destination is the Thai village of Ban Hieu. Depending on the weather or the season you have an opportunity to swim under the waterfall. Here we stay overnight in a White Thai home-stay, a traditional house on stilts. It is a fascinating way to learn more about the minority life and culture.

Day 2: Ban Hieu – Ban Don (B- L – D)

After breakfast and before trekking, you have free time in a half of hour to enjoy a stroll around Ban Hieu village. The six hour-trek will lead you through charming villages of Ban Thai and picturesque valleys with terraces (step rice paddies). We will arrive in the minority village of Ban Don where we have dinner and stay over night in a homestay.

Day 3: Ban Don – Ninh Binh or Hanoi (B – L)

We are happy to say goodbye to our friendly hosts and embark on a trek during approximately three hours. We pass more scenic villages, forests and enjoy the magnificent panoroma views. After that we finish our stay in Pu Luong Natural Reserve and drive back to Ninh Binh or Hanoi (upon your request!). The trip ends at around 16h00 - 17h00.
